Vocational training at Lorenz Snack-World

Vocational training at LorenzVocational training as: Industrial management assistant
Company site: Neu-Isenburg
Vocational training dates: 2007 – 2009
Current position: Sales assistant in Export department

1. What particularly attracted you to start your career at Lorenz Snack-World as a vocational trainee?
The chance of a good training in a well-known, brand-name company and the career opportunities it would give me. And the training only took two years – that was attractive, too.

2. What business areas did you get to know during your training? What projects or larger tasks did you work on?
I got to know quite a few departments: marketing, sales, purchasing, production, controlling, exports, human resources and packaging management.
Particular projects and tasks included the changeover to new side pieces for all Crunchips products. The aim was to fit more on each palette and achieve a higher level of standardisation. I also assisted with the creation of promotional materials and coordinated samples dispatches as part of a sales promotion across Germany that lasted several weeks.

3. What impressed you the most during your time as a vocational trainee? What did you learn?
Because I worked in all those different departments, I got to know a wide range of processes and procedures very well. I made a lot of contacts in the company, too. You have to deal with other people quite often and have to learn how to adapt to the different ways of working in different departments – I enjoyed the challenges this posed.

4. What position did you take on after finishing your training?
Now I am a sales assistant in the exports department. My tasks include correspondence with customers, price maintenance, preparing promotions, trade-fair preparation, condition calculations and integrating new products.

5. Why would you recommend the vocational training programme at Lorenz Snack-World to others?
The vocational training programme offers a very good insight into the fields of activity of industrial-management assistants. It provides a firm basis for your further career in this profession.
The tasks given to trainees are varied and challenging and you are made to feel welcome and treated as a colleague wherever you work.
